Frequently asked questions

Why does nakshatra matter for baby names?

In Vedic tradition, the Moon's nakshatra at birth carries a vibrational signature. The Namkaran ceremony assigns a name starting with the syllable corresponding to that nakshatra-pada. It's believed to align the child's name with their natural cosmic rhythm.

What if I don't know the exact birth time?

We use sunrise time as a fallback, the most commonly accepted default in classical Jyotish. You can also enter an approximate time and see names for the likely nakshatra range.

Are all 27 nakshatras covered?

Yes. All 27 nakshatras with their 4 padas (108 total) are covered. Each pada has 1–4 starting syllables in classical texts. Our list includes names across all of them.
