Muhurta Calculator

The right moment changes everything.

Muhurta is the ancient Vedic science of choosing the most auspicious moment for important activities. Not all moments are equal. Jyotish identifies planetary combinations, Tithis, and Nakshatras that support specific types of activities.

Muhurta Timings

All timings computed for the selected city. Choghadiya shows the quality of each day-division. Avoid Rahu Kala, Gulika Kalam, and Yamaganda for important starts.

How it works

  1. 01Select the activity type and date range
  2. 02We calculate Choghadiya blocks (auspicious/inauspicious hour divisions)
  3. 03Rahu Kala, Gulika Kala, and Yamaganda are excluded automatically
  4. 04Personal chart factors are layered in for your Lagna and Dasha

Choghadiya, Abhijit Muhurta, Rahu Kala, Gulika Kalam, and Yamaganda timings computed from sunrise/sunset using classical Vedic formulas. Sunrise calculated via Swiss Ephemeris for the selected city.

Frequently asked questions

What is Choghadiya?

Choghadiya divides the day and night into 8 segments each, named for their ruling planet (Amrit, Shubh, Labh, Char, Rog, Kaal, Udveg, Vaar Vela). Amrit, Shubh, Char, and Labh are considered auspicious.

What is Rahu Kala?

Rahu Kala is a period of approximately 90 minutes each day ruled by Rahu. It falls at different times depending on the day of the week. Most auspicious activities are traditionally avoided during this window.

Is Muhurta different for everyone?

The base Panchang Muhurta is universal. Your personal chart adds a layer: your lagna lord being strong, or your Dasha lord being supportive, makes certain windows more aligned for you than others.

Is this free?

Yes. The basic Muhurta and Choghadiya tool is free.
